Bike tour day 4 – Kahla to Oettern

Today we had to bike up 920 meters, which took us several hours and was very exhausting. We went up a mountain near Jena to get a view over the city in its valley.

In Jena I split from my group to explore a bit on my own. The city has some buildings I really wanted to check out, like Zeiss Bau 15 from 1915, the first stand-alone high-rise in Germany, and Zeiss Bau 36 from 1936.

Before I left the city, I bumped into another group from our tour and joined them for the rest of the way.

Highlight of the day: Making original Thüringer Klöße for dinner.
