Bike tour day 7 – Breitungen to Geisa

Today was another exhausting day. My legs were still sore from yesterday, and it was hot and sunny again. We biked 55 km to Geisa and arrived around lunchtime. Geisa was the westernmost town in the GDR and has been renovated nicely, so it’s really pretty to walk around now.

From there we biked up to Point Alpha. It was an observation post of the US Army during the Cold War and is now a memorial. Right next to it was the inner German wall. Walking there now and being able to cross it freely is something I really appreciate.

Highlight of the day: The parents of someone from our tour live in Geisa and cooked Solyanka for us for dinner.
