Bike tour day 8 – Geisa to Gerstungen
We left Geisa in the morning and biked across the Hessian border into Heringen (Werra). The town is home to Europe’s biggest potash producer.
In 1973 they started piling up the mining waste next to the border to East Germany. Today the pile has grown to 260 million tons and is visible from far away. We got a tour and could even climb all the way to the top.
Afterwards we kept biking at a relaxed pace and eventually arrived at our last camping spot of the tour.
Highlight of the day: Biking and talking with the two guys I’ve gotten to know best the past week.
