Bike tour day 9 – Gerstungen to Eisenach

Our final stop of the tour was the Wartburg in Eisenach. It was a short 90-minute ride from where we had camped, but pretty steep. The last time I had been to the Wartburg was as a child, so seeing it again was exciting, especially since it marked the finish line of our tour.

After exploring the castle, most of us took the train back to Leipzig. I really felt my legs today and barely managed the uphill stretches, so in a way I’m also glad it’s over. But the week was exactly what I had hoped for: stress-free days with nature, culture, and a good physical challenge.

Highlight of the day: Arriving at the Wartburg.
