Leaving Pika

I started this blog a year ago on Pika. I liked the simplicity, and to some degree, the limitations of the platform. Over the past year, the team behind it kept adding new features and making many small changes. Nothing dramatic really, but it began to frustrate me. The design of my website kept changing slightly, and with every new feature, the platform became more cluttered.

Since it’s a paid subscription, I had to decide if I wanted to renew. The simplicity that drew me in wasn’t really there anymore. Plus I wanted full authority over my website and not notice every other week that something looks different now.

So last week I quickly hacked this website together using Astro. It looks and behaves like the old Pika version, but now I control everything.
